A 3-Year road project is launched by the Shanghai Municipal Engineering Administration Bureau to thoroughly solve some traffic problems by the end of 2009.

The project includes a series of measures to improve road situations in the city. For example, to have some bad roads reconstructed; to specify the technical standard of shaft well covers; to define the management responsibility of the well covers; to clear away obstacles on sidewalks, etc. The project covers roads in major downtown and scenic areas including those near Expo Park.
