Franklin L. Lavin,US Under Secretary for International Trade, confirmed on his visit to Shanghai on July 26 that the US will participate in Shanghai Expo 2010 and give its full support to the event.
Lavin said Shanghai Expo is not only a grand gathering to display the latest achievements of human being but also a platform to present the charm of Shanghai and China. It is a good opportunity to get a better understanding of each other for the people of the two countries.“Many Americans are longing to know about China though they have not been to China. In this sense, Shanghai Expo provides a key chance to promote the influence of China in USA.”, quoted Lavin as saying.
According to Lavin, Shanghai Expo will have a profound influence on China’s economy and society. He said the US would like to have more discussion with China and contribute to the success of Shanghai Expo 2010.
By July 25, 55 countries and international organizations had confirmed their participation in Shanghai Expo including 20 in Africa, 3 in America, 9 in Europe, 18 in Asia and Oceania and 5 international organizations, excluding the US.
